UC Berkeley, School of Public Health Announces the Release of Free Online COVID-19 Education Program

Washington DC, June 9, 2020 – The Forum for Collaborative Research announced the launch of a new course from the University of California, Berkeley School of Public HealthManaging the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Comprehensive Crash Course for Everyone.

 

Lectures by distinguished faculty will address the main concerns and topics relevant to the COVID-19 pandemicincluding the biology, epidemiology, diagnostics and basic concepts in modeling the spread of the virus.

It is an honor to engage in the discussion of addressing the many issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic through this interactive course,” said Veronica Miller, PhD, Executive Director of the Forum for Collaborative Research.I am proud to be a part of both the UC Berkeley Public Health community as well as the ForumBoth institutions are committed to effective collaboration which results in the advancement of public health concerns and initiatives. This course is similar to the Forum’s collaboration model by bringing in experts of different areas and expertise and providing an equal voice for everyone to participate in the discussion. I will specifically be teaching about the FDA and Public Health Emergencies, which is such an important component of working towards improved health outcomes.

The course will also cover the history of global pandemics, methods of prevention and control, identification of at risk populations, and systemic causes of disparate impacts. Lastly, the course will discuss how organizations and individuals are coping and look at the potential health and economic effects that will require a response, both globally and locally.
