Graduate Interns

Sonia Navani, UC Berkeley School of Public Health Doctoral Candidate, Graduate Intern 2014

Sonia Navani was a 2014 graduate student intern at the Forum for Collaborative HIV Research and a doctoral candidate at UC Berkeley School of Public Health.  Her research interests included: 1) exploring novel approaches to measure sexual risk among marginalized populations, 2) examining the role of mobile and digital technologies within sexual risk environments, and 3) investigating implications for sexual risk behavior in the context of HIV-related biomedical advancements in the US and the global south.  Sonia had over a decade of experience conducting research, monitoring, and evaluation of reproductive health and sexual violence initiatives among conflict-affected populations in Africa and Asia with NGO, UN, and academic entities.

Micha Zheng, UC Berkeley MPH '15, Graduate Intern 2014

Micha Zheng was a graduate student intern at the Forum for Collaborative HIV Research. She was pursuing a Master of Public Health at UC Berkeley with a concentration in Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology. Micha graduated from Rice University in 2013 with a B.A. in Kinesiology-Health Sciences, where she worked with investigators from the Baylor College of Medicine and Veterans Affairs Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety on researching barriers to physician-initiated HIV testing as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
