The International AIDS Society (IAS) invites early to mid-career HIV investigators and clinical scientists to apply for a fellowship to attend an interactive three-day workshop in South Africa on state-of-the-art HIV cure research, led by internationally renowned scientists. 

The Academy will award 25 to 30 fellowships PhD- or MD- qualified applicants affiliated with or working in collaboration with an institution or university in a resource-limited country, with full travel support to participate.

The Research-for-Cure Academy of the IAS Towards an HIV Cure initiative is organized in partnership with the French non-governmental organization Sidaction, the South African Department of Science and Technology, and the School of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
 
The objectives of the Research-for-Cure Academy are to:

  • Provide training on state of the art HIV cure research, based on the IAS Global Scientific Strategy: Towards an HIV Cure 2016 and current global undertakings in the field.
  • Improve and reinforce practical tools and methodology to pursue or engage in HIV remission research.
  • Provide a unique opportunity for the selected fellows to engage and discuss with leaders in the field of HIV cure research with a view to facilitating research collaborations in the search for an HIV cure or remission.
