E-mail Print

MAY-01-12  Medscape has released a new Continuing Medical Education/Continuing Educaiton (CME/CE) activity entitled "Overcoming Obstacles to HIV Care Referral and Payment," which focuses on strategies to overcome barriers to HIV care, including linkage to care, access to funds, and patient incentives.   The activity is part of the TREAT Initiative, an ongoing collaboration between the HIV Forum and Medscape.

This CME/CE is intended for HIV specialists, infectious disease specialists, primary care providers, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and any other providers who diagnose and/or manage HIV infections.  It is designed to improve the ability of clinicians to overcome barriers to referral and linkage to HIV care, including a better understanding of available payment and partnership resources, as well as new approaches to engage patients in care.

Those who complete the program will be able to articulate the need to establish robust partnerships to refer patients who are newly diagnosed with HIV for care, describe the benefits and limitations of incentives-based approaches to healthcare, including care of HIV-infected patients, and effectively employ currently available resources to provide payment for HIV care.
