Dr. Frieden Twitter Chat - Working in Public Health

OCT-26-12  Join CDC Director, Dr. Tom Frieden, for a live Twitter chat Friday, October 26, from 3:00-4:00 PM ET.  During the chat, Dr. Frieden will focus on a topic on the minds of many current and future public health students—how do I find the right career in public health? Dr. Frieden will answer your questions and share insights and experiences about working in public health.

Not a public health student?  Join the conversation anyway!  You may be a perfect candidate for a job in public health and not even know it. 

Already a public health professional? The CDC wants to hear from you too!  Please you’ll share your experiences in navigating a career in public health.  Did you have an unusual path to your public health career?  What advice do you wish someone had shared with you?  Join the chat and share your advice with the next generation of public health professionals.

PLWH More at Risk in Meningitis Outbreak, Dr. Aberg Stresses Awareness

OCT-17-12  The four most recent meningitis cases in New York City have been HIV-infected males.  PLWH are at an increased risk to both acquire the disease, and to die from it if infected.  Because more than half of people in New York City newly diagnosed with HIV are men, Dr. Judith Aberg advises men to use safe practices and be aware of potentials for exposure.  Read More >>

JUL-24-12  AAAS, HIVMA, and the Center for Global Health Policy present "Treatment as Prevention: From Science to Implementation" on July 24, 2012 in Washington, DC. Join a distinguished group of experts to discuss updates on the science on treatment as prevention, combination prevention trials, testing and engagement in care, science-driven public policy, implementation issues from the provider and advocate perspectives, and the economics of treatment as prevention. There will be a reception from 5:30-6:30 pm, and the event will take place from 6:30-8:30 pm in the AAAS Auditorium (1200 New York Avenue NW).
