Medscape CME/CE: Overcoming Obstacles to HIV Care Referral and Payment

MAY-01-12  Medscape has released a new Continuing Medical Education/Continuing Educaiton (CME/CE) activity entitled "Overcoming Obstacles to HIV Care Referral and Payment," which focuses on strategies to overcome barriers to HIV care, including linkage to care, access to funds, and patient incentives.   The activity is part of the TREAT Initiative, an ongoing collaboration between the HIV Forum and Medscape.  Read more.

MAY-01-12  May is Hepatitis Awareness Month.  An estimated 3.5–5.3 million Americans are living with chronic (lifelong) hepatitis B or hepatitis C virus infection. Most of them do not know that they are infected, placing them at greater risk for severe, even fatal, complications from the disease and increasing the likelihood that they will spread the virus to others.  Read more.

President Obama Appoints Dr. Grant Colfax as Director of White House ONAP

MAR-14-12  Today, President Obama announced the appointment of one of the nation’s leading public health policy experts as the Director of the Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP). Grant Colfax, MD, Director of the HIV Prevention Section in the San Francisco Department of Public Health will coordinate the continuing efforts of the government to reduce the number of HIV infections across the United States.  Read more.
